Interstellar Spaceflight: Science Fiction vs. Science Fact

ROOM 704/706 - SciFi/Fantasy TV/Film

Friday May 31, 2019 - 1:30 pm to 2:20 pm

Interstellar travel has been a cornerstone of science fiction for over 100 years, but what are the challenges that await us as we try to overcome the barrier of such immense distances? This session will explore the technologies that will help us make the interstellar leap, like fusion rockets, antimatter, and terawatt lasers. Astronomers are discovering new worlds orbiting other stars everyday, and while even the closest stars may be distant, human imagination is infinite.
