Pixar Films Face-Off!

DPCCP 3 Central City (Audience Participation)

Sunday June 2, 2019 - 3:30 pm to 4:20 pm

Pixar films are loved by all ages for their original ideas, compelling stories, and poignant, universal themes. Not to mention the groundbreaking graphics that have sent our eyes swimming in the rainbows of the ocean and the dancing in the mosaic colors of the Land of the Dead. That’s why it’s so hard to choose a favorite or even try to compare them. Challenge accepted. In this panel, I and a team Pixar fans (who did this panel last year with Disney animated films and crowned Beauty and the Beast the winner), will work with the audience to determine the best Pixar movie of all time. Here's how it works. We'll start off by narrowing down the 20 released Pixar films to 16 (bye, Cars 2). Then, like March Madness, we'll pit the sweet 16 films against each other, bracket-style. The panelists and audience will discuss each pairing briefly, weighing the merits of each film. We'll discuss the strength of each film's characters, plot, score, emotional resonance, and lasting impacts it has had on the world of entertainment. Then, the panelists and audience will vote until we narrow it down, one by one to the winner. This will be a collaborative and educational look at perspectives and creative legacy through the lens of Pixar films.
