This session will include presentations from two librarian educators and two teacher educators. The presentations will be: Discussing Public and Private Histories Using Graphic Memoirs (Dr. Jenna Spiering, University of South Carolina) Locating and Evaluating Graphic Novel Resources for Teaching and Learning (Dr. Sterg Botzakis, University of Tennessee) Make No Bone about It, Graphic Novels Can Be Used to Scaffold Content Learning (Dr. Carla Meyer, Duquesne University) Tragedy, Healing, Understanding: Teaching Civil Rights through Graphic Novels and Primary Sources (Dr. Karen Gavigan, University of South Carolina) Each panelist will present their session, with time allowed at the end for questions and answers. The session should be of interest to classroom teachers, school and public librarians, educators of teachers and librarians, and parents.
