Asteroid exploration seemed like a distant fantasy 20 years ago when a trio of movies - Asteroid, Deep Impact and Armageddon - speculated what we'd encounter when finally touching down on one of those space "rocks". If the last two decades of NASA missions haven't taught us anything? Last year's missions - from Osiris-Rex probe landing on Bennu to New Horizons careening out of the solar system to photograph Ultima-Thule, a Kuiper Belt asteroid - have given us a new perspective!
