The Basics of Starting and Running a Fangroup

Starting a fan group sounds easy. Create a few social media accounts, make posts, host events, show up at cons. That simple, right? Actually, no. Like anything you start up from scratch, it's going to take a lot of hard work, dedication, and knowledge. Where do I start? How do I keep up a social media platform? What do I need to host good meetups or parties? How do I get involved with conventions? The goal of this panel is to touch on what it means to be a fan group leader, to educate and inspire those who might have wanted to do it but are unsure of where to begin, or how to get connected. It will go over the basics of starting up social media, building a trusted team to help out with marketing/events, coordinating events, marketing strategy and how to get involved with your local community and conventions.
