User Experience Design (UXd) employs a set of methods to understand how a user understands, engages, and enjoys a product. The practice of UXd is often a combination observation, interviews, collecting data during gameplay, and analyzing the data to understand user’s motivations and thinking. This presentation will serve as an introduction to user experience design in games. Topics covered will include basic motivations, key observation methods, how to interpret data, and basic design strategies. Attendees will leave prepared to conduct rudimentary UXd and to research further into this multifaceted field.
