ANCIENT ALIENS: First Contact

Magnolia Panel Room

Saturday October 29, 2016 - 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm

We have already found simple organisms in space, but will we soon discover sentient beings? Recently, the search for another Earth-like planet has led scientists to discover Proxima b, a potentially habitable exoplanet orbiting the red dwarf star called Proxima Centauri. Thanks to the Hubble Telescope and other new technologies, astronomers today are finding planets that exist in the so-called “Goldilocks Zone” at an incredible rate. And it is no longer just organizations like SETI and NASA that are searching for extraterrestrials – with projects like Breakthrough Listen, in the 21st century, mainstream scholars, scientists, and world governments have openly joined the hunt for life beyond Earth.
