Walkable VR: The Future of Immersion

C-150

Saturday October 12, 2019 - 3:00 pm to 3:45 pm

In this presentation/panel, VR developers Alyssa Stahl, Reilly Zink, Will Gray and Mitch Cook will discuss walkable virtual reality and why it is the future of VR. The first half of the presentation will consist of a short powerpoint that explains what walkable VR is and some things to keep in mind during the creation process. The second half will be open to questions from the audience. To put it simply, walkable VR is a type of tetherless VR experience that often utilizes redirected walking techniques to keep a player within a specific space. For example, a player may feel like they are traversing a large area or house in the virtual world, but never actually leave a designated 10ft x 10ft space. Walkable VR is still a fairly new concept and we would like to share our knowledge with other developers to continue the growth of the industry.
