High Sierra Writers Presents: First Pages

The High Sierra Writers Group holds their November session at Reno Pop Culture Con - to give aspiring to pro writers (of ALL ages and skill levels) a taste of all they offer. This hour they will conduct "First Pages", so bring the first page of your novel-in-progress! (Remember - November is NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writers Month - and this will be a great place to start!) First Pages focuses on the fact that 75% of readers buy a book based on reading only the first page of a book. The percentage is far less for agents and editors. In our First Pages exercise, writers submit their first pages at the beginning of the meeting and we read them aloud (anonymously!) to the group, which will then provide feedback. The goal is to give the page's author reactions from a varied audience of writers to “punch up” that first make-or-break page.
