A discussion about how current writers create modern “fairy tales”. We all know that Grimm's Fairy Tales and Hans Christian Anderson were not as sweet as Disney sanitized them. Those 300 year old “fairy tales” were their equivalent of dystopian societies that these authors write about: Common elements to be discussed will include how in both classic and modern stories, kids were running from terrifying authority figures, being captured and tortured, forming alliances and rebelling against those authorities, and finding forbidden love and paying the ultimate price!
