COMICS IN EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE ROOM (E21 C)

Saturday February 29, 2020 - 4:15 pm to 5:00 pm

Join panelists Scott McDarmont, Bizhan Khodabandeh, and Christopher Irving for a discussion on how comics went from crude artfrom to being embraced by educators.

Comics were once seen as a crude artform responsible for everything from illiteracy to juvenile delinquency; more recently, however, they have been embraced by both K-12 educators and higher academia who utilize their unique properties to motivate reluctant readers, as an instructional tool, or even simply to be appreciated for the works of art that they are! Come join us for a discussion on these changing perceptions and how comics are being utilized to teach today.
