Netflix releases new movies and shows weekly that viewers love to binge-watch and discuss. Other than "Dracula" and Marvel shows, viewers may not know that many of their favorites are book adaptations. Hits like "Locke and Key", "YOU", "The Witcher", "Bird Box", "The Umbrella Academy", "The Haunting of Hill House", and more, are all Netflix original entertainment gems based on comic books, graphic novels, and novels. This panel will discuss how their literary value translated to screen, changes that were made once the medium changed, how authors are impacted once their stories move from lit to screen, whether good source material is necessary for good films, why people are more likely to watch a story that read it, and what elements make an effective adaptation.
