Over the past two decades, the legitimacy of comics as educational texts to be studied, analyzed, and used in the classroom has become more and more accepted by educators and administrators. Now that we have these “new” texts, getting teacher buy-in is not as much of an issue anymore, but new challenges have emerged. Some teachers new to the medium simply do not know where to start when writing curriculum and assessments using these books and those who have experience now face the possibility of distance and hybrid learning models and how this will work in their classrooms. This panel, hosted by the LitX educational cohort, consists of teachers and other stakeholders who will answer questions gathered on social media and help you get started teaching with graphic novels in your (new) classroom! Join LitX again for their next panel during NYCC x MCM Metaverse! How to Start a Finer Things Club | Notes from Some Quarantined Teachers will premiere on Saturday 10/10 at 8:55 AM ET.
