We all love Harry Potter, but is that enjoyment born of simple love for a well-told story – or is there something more? Do the Harry Potter novels have true literary merit? Do they transcend simple fiction into the realms of Shakespeare, Austen, and other so-called 'high literature'? What about The Cursed Child? This panel will be a round-table discussion of the Harry Potter novels, the Cursed Child, and their place in the literary pantheon. Is it simply a (great) young adult novel, or is it something that could be taught as part of a literary analysis curriculum. In short, how 'good' are the novels, really?
