In March of 2020, movie theaters across America and the world turned out the lights. Since then, major theater chains like Pacific and Regal and regional chains such as Cinemagic have closed their doors for good. Meanwhile, Hollywood's leading studios are bypassing movie theaters by taking their premium content directly to their own streaming services such as Disney + and HBO Go. Producer, writer, and director Robert Parigi, who has worked with major studios and Academy Award winning film makers as well as indie and micro-budget productions, will look to Hollywood's past, and to present trends, for clues to the future of movie theaters.
