Room 306B

Saturday July 15, 2017 - 10:45 am to 11:45 am

Short description: Many geeks and gamers are diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorders. Panelists discuss living with the diagnosis and tips for overcoming its challenges.

Long description: Many people in the nerd and convention communities are diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, which includes more severe cases of autism as well as higher functioning Asperger Syndrome. Panelists will discuss their experiences living with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, what draws people with autism to video games, fandoms and conventions, promote understanding of people with autism, and advice for overcoming its challenges. Audience members will also be encouraged to share their experiences either living with or knowing someone diagnosed on the spectrum. We want to impart on attendees how aspects of Autistic Spectrum Disorder can be helpful and not a hindrance! The panel will be one hour long, and will require four microphones for panelists. No special seating arrangements will be needed. Please contact me if you have any questions!
