MENTAL HEALTH IN THE COSPLAY AND COMIC CON COMMUNITY

Panel Room 2

Friday October 15, 2021 - 6:45 pm to 7:30 pm

Mental health has been an important topic in the convention and cosplay community, and has only become even more necessary the past two years to talk about. In this panel, we will discuss mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety, and how comic conventions and cosplay can be a valid coping tool. Our panelists will discuss our experiences addressing our mental health during the pandemic, and how to address the all too real post-con depression when the big event is over. Other topics to be discussed involve the intersection of mental health with being people of color, social media and more. Cory Lara – Don’t Feed the Gamers Writer Ahmed Ferrera - AlMarte Collective cosplayer Andrew Man - Too Sweet Cosplay Zachary McGarity-Palmer - Clinical Psychotherapist
