Arson, Swamp Ghosts, and Bigfoot: Tales from the Big Thicket

Emerald Stage

Sunday July 17, 2022 - 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm

Spread over 113,000 acres, Big Thicket National Preserve in southeast Texas is a biological crossroads where wildly different ecosystems collide and merge, creating an environment ripe for human ingenuity and unexplained phenomena. Because of the density of the woods, the thicket was historically a place to skirt around rather than settle—allowing creatures to hide, adapt, and survive...or not survive. Park ranger Heidi Dietze has been with the National Park Service for over twenty years and enjoys sharing stories that showcase the historic uniqueness of her neck of the woods.
