An internationally published author will go into how vampires are still relevant in pop culture, the sexism inherent in the genre, and examples of female vampires in various media who break the mold. In this panel the history of vampires from ancient mythology, Dracula, and today will be explored. It will also dissect the problematic aspects of the genre that generally values “strong female characters”. Finally positive examples of female vampires in various forms of media from anime, books, TV, and movies will be explored.
