The Tomahawk as a both primary and secondary combat weapon has been used by Special Operations Soldiers from the time of Rodger's Rangers to today's Airborne Rangers. Former Army Special Forces (Green Beret), Carmine Downey, will take you through the last 200 years of the development and changes in the Tomahawk from the weapon's beginning as a Native American impact weapon, through the modern era. He will explain how technology and materials have shaped this weapon and what techniques have been added because of these changes that keep the weapon so relevant today to Army Green Berets and Rangers, Navy SEALs, and Marine RECON. This course will examine how the weapon is used in man-to-man combat against a variety of other weapons found on both the battlefield and in civilian society, including knives, machetes, clubs, and even firearms making this a suitable weapon for the everyday outdoor enthusiast as is for the elite soldier.
