Close Quarter Knifes of Special Operations

Savoy

Saturday July 22, 2023 - 11:00 am to 12:30 pm

No weapon is more elemental to human combat than the knife, but not all knives are designed or employed in the exact same way for best usage in close combat. This course taught by former Special Operations Soldiers, Carmine Downey (Army Special Forces) and Thomas Potter (Canadian Light Infantry Recon) will train you in various combat techniques for the primary blades used by elite units including the double-edged fighting knife (Fairbairn-Sykes, Gerber, and SOCP.) the survival knife (K-bar, modern bayonets, hunting) and machetes. These exact blades are just as applicable to the average hunting, hiking, and camping enthusiast as to combat soldiers. The techniques of these blades will also be discussed in applying them to adaptable knives suitable for everyday carry or what blades are common around the home. If time permits, in addition to employing the weapons techniques offensively, dealing with them unarmed, should you face an assailant wielding one, will be covered.
