Journey the Silk Road with professional belly dance performer Safiya Nawaar and her dance troupe, Banat Nawaar. Join them for a spellbinding journey into the traditional and fantasy stylings of Belly Dance. Drawing on her 23 years of experience as a professional performer and choreographer, she and her troupe will bring her signature style of dance to life on the Lexington Comiccon stage. Their specialties include classical, ancient, and modern belly dance from Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, and Persia, as well as a number of fusion genres. They will be performing some breathtaking numbers you won't want to miss! Following the performances, there will be an opportunity to participate and learn some of the moves that make belly dance as mesmerizing as it is! Safiya will guide a small class where she will be teaching gorgeous, sinuous, snaky dance moves, flawless flowing arms, and strong hip articulations that will have you well on your way to discovering your inner Goddess!
