This class will focus on the rapier and dagger of Joseph Swetnam. We will be exploring techniques using the rapier and dagger in the English style from the early 17th century. He published his manuscript in 1617 and was training and working in the late 16th century. Joseph Swetnam wrote his treatise in 1617 and says he studied for over 30 years. This means that he was working and training in the Elizabethan period and traveled extensively. I believe he as from Bristol and that he was a Gentleman adventurer like Sir Francis Drake.
