Join us for our opening ceremonies as we honour the land in which Game Con Canada Powered By TELUS is hosted. Presented by The Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth (USAY). They are an influential not-for-profit organization in Calgary since 2001. USAY strives to provide essential programming and services to Calgary’s Indigenous youth between the ages of twelve and twenty-nine.
We are honoured to be joined by Blackfoot Elder, Duane Mistaken Chief. Duane Mistaken Chief is the AHS traditional wellness coordinator and counsellor at the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre’s Elbow River Healing Lodge in Calgary. He also helped write the book, Blackfoot Ways of Knowing: The Worldview of the Siksikaitsitapi, published in 2004 by the University of Calgary Press.
