Special Forces Mid Range Combat Weapons

Saturday July 27, 2024 - 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm

With firearms used for distance and a knife used for close combat, the tomahawk and machete are the weapons of choice for mid-range combat by Special Operations Soldiers. Dating as far back as Roger's Rangers, Spec Ops soldiers have used the Native American impact weapon through the modern era into combat in the Middle East. Beginning in WWII and through the Jungles of the modern Central and South American covert operations, Spec Ops units have used the machete as a combat weapon. Former Army Special Forces (Green Beret) Carmine Downey will take you through the application of these weapons and examine how they are used in man-to-man combat. Both skills as singular weapons and used simultaneously will be explored against a variety of other weapons, including firearms, making these as suitable as defense weapons for the everyday homeowner and outdoor enthusiast as for the elite soldier
