Dr. Tom Archie "The Tao in Family Medicine - Polarity"

Sawtooth Room

Sunday May 28, 2017 - 2:00 pm to 3:15 pm

Dr Tom Archie of InnerHealthMD in Ketchum discusses the Taoist concept of Polarity in practicing Family Medicine. Internal/External, Hot/Cold, Yin/Yang. Everything is understood in relationship to, or in the context of, some other thing. Is a food good or bad? Should I have surgical or medical treatment? Should I use an herb or a pharmaceutical? Am I choosing or being forced to choose? Will I live or die? Polaric Thinking considers both the poles (north/south, heavy/thin, wellness/illness) and the full spectrum between the them. Dualistic Thinking expresses just the poles themselves, leading to false choices. Chinese Medicine emerged from the Taoists. Learn how the Tao helps you to frame your own story and guide your medical decisions.
