Teaching Theme Using Role Playing Games!

Room 607 - Sci-Fi / Fantasy

Friday June 30, 2017 - 12:30 pm to 1:20 pm

In this program, one Denver-area public school teacher demonstrates how she is using the creation of role-playing games, similar to Dungeons and Dragons, to help middle school students learn about and explore themes. Through this method, students also use critical thinking skills to learn about character creation, the value of choice, cause and effect, and the importance of decision making. Visitors will have the opportunity to play a few rounds using a student-created character. Additionally, student-created examples will be on display. Visitors will walk away with templates that will help them create their own start-up RGPs and characters.
