(AT1) Re-Imagining the Arts Worldwide: How Graffiti Can Reduce School Violence

Room 303 - Education

Friday June 30, 2017 - 10:30 am to 11:20 am

Why did America’s most prestigious art show take place a few blocks from a school with no art education? What happens when world class muralists paint all over some of the poorest schools in Miami? The arts are vital for human growth. The heart and mind must be allowed to make their dreams a reality. Come learn from Colorado Crush and Project RAW organizers about how a rebellious principal teamed up with street artists to transform not only the exterior of their ‘prison-like’ school, but the hearts and minds of its’ students, as well. What’s more, they want to help bring those options to children from Miami to Denver and beyond.
