Pokemon and Yokai Watch are huge franchises in Japan (and pretty much everywhere else). But they are just the latest in a longstanding tradition Japan has of collecting, catching, and battling using weird or wondrous creatures found throughout their nation. This panel aims to look at how these games takes those old traditions, and adapts them for a new world.
