STAVING THE RAGE: PROVIDING PRODUCTIVE OUTLETS IN COMPETITIVE PLAY

We've all had a moment in a multiplayer game where we pull away from the keyboard and yell, "What hit me?!?!" In that moment, we have a choice, which separates the professionals from the casuals - Get mad, or get good. I'm going to discuss strategies that multiplayer game developers can implement that will make getting good the natural choice, and discourage anger being expressed through griefing and flaming.
