ARTISTS’ ALLEY
Looking for fan art of your favorite “husbandos” or “waifus”? Perhaps you’re in the market for a new original one of a kind piece of artwork? Or maybe you’re just in search of more trinkets to fill your goodie bags? If you answered yes to any of the above then come on down to the Artists' Alley! Here you’ll find fanart, original art, trinkets, pins, keychains, and so much more!


Want to be in Artists' Alley?
Do you have an amazing crafting or artistic skill that you would like to share with the world (of Southern California)? Then set up your crafts at the Artists' Alley. Anything from drawings, jewelry, pins, stickers and more, as long as it’s your own handiwork, you can sell it to fans just like yourself. This pass will get you everything you need to share your crafts at Hentai Con!


$125 – Standard Table Includes:

Artists must have a “California Seller’s Permit” with applicable date and location for the duration of the event, which can be obtained from “The California Board of Equalization”, and have the document (or copy) with them while in the Artists' Alley. The seller’s permit must be in the Primary Artist’s Name. Artists may share a table with another artist. Any Assistants or Secondary Artist will be operating under the same permit.
Tablespaces are non-transferable; Artists may not willingly give their table away. Tables may be transferred from the Primary Artist to the Secondary Artist once, with an updated Seller’s Permit.
Tables are non-refundable after the 18th of October; except for specific circumstances.
  • Refunds are subject to a processing fee once they are accepted

  • Refunds are NOT guaranteed.

  • Refunds will be sent via check to the address of table purchaser

Artists that do not check-in to their table space prior to 10:00 am on the 19th of November will forfeit their tablespace. Please check with the Artists' Alley Coordinator for the list of exceptions.
Requests for specific tables or neighbors may be made prior to the event, but are not guaranteed during the event. Relocation is up to the discretion of the AAC.
Check-in and set-up will be available starting 18th of November once exhibit hall setup begins at 12:00 pm.


Please bring the following requirements:
  • Confirmation of table purchase (email, print out, etc.)

  • A hard copy of California Seller’s Permit

  • A valid government issued photo I.D. matching the name on registration and Seller’s Permit. (Primary Artists must check in for tables. Secondary artists and assistants may not check in, unless they are listed on the Seller’s Permit.)

Names for publications will be done in the following format:
  • First and Last Name” for single artists and “First and Last Name / First and Last Name” for Primary and Secondary Artists

  • Artists may be listed as a Group/Circle name, or requested nickname/handle

  • If no pen name or group name is given, the primary artists’ first and last name will be used

ARTISTS’ ALLEY RULES:
  1. The table number must be visible at all times.

  2. Nothing is to be taped, stapled or glued to the table itself.

  3. Event Sponsor is not liable for lost or stolen items belonging to Artist. Artists' Alley will have set hours and lockdown.

  4. Doors will be locked overnight. Artists leaving their personal items unattended do so at their own risk.

  5. Open areas will not be obstructed with Artists' goods. Any property occupying walkways will be removed and Artist will be given one verbal warning. Further warnings will result in the removal of property and/or forfeiture of table.

  6. Artist will not sell:

  • Proxy items/nothing sold from another studio

  • Bootleg material and/or anything that violates copyright infringement

  • Any food or beverage

  • Mass produced items not originally created by the primary and/or secondary artist.

  • Commercial items

  • Makeup or offer wig styling services; services may be paid for in the Event Space but must be conducted off-site. Henna tattoos, face painting, and other work expressing art on a person’s body are prohibited while in the Artists' Alley.

  • Due to the nature of the convention, 18+ material may be displayed but MUST have genitalia covered in accordance with local nudity and public decency laws, and must be covered when transported outside of the convention. Depictions of illegal drugs and/or violence are not permitted under any circumstance. All characters depicted in adult situations must be of legal age (18+). Any questionable content may be subject to removal at the discretion of AAC; failure to comply will result in removal from Artists' Alley.

  • City of Burbank Municipal Code

    • City of Burbank: Title 5, Police and Public Safety, Morals and Conduct Chapter 3, 5-3-109: Public Nudity and Disrobing: No person shall appear, bathe, sunbathe, walk, change clothes, disrobe or be in any public place, place open to the public, or place open to public view in such manner that the genitals, vulva, pubis, pubic hair, buttocks, perineum, anus, anal region or pubic hair region of any person, or any portion of the breast at or below the upper edge of the areola of any female person, is exposed to public view.”

  • Sale of artwork that is not created by the Artist is strictly prohibited. Do not trace, vectorize, copy, or otherwise alter and/or reproduce artwork, whether as a part or the whole of a work. This includes official logos, symbols, background art, and any other pre-existing material that is not the work of the registered Artist(s).

  • Weapons: Swords, guns, and any projectile items are prohibited.

  • Lighted candles or incense: Do not make your table a fire hazard.

  • Helium Balloons

  • Artist (or Artist Assistant) must be present at Artists' Alley to sell Artist’s work. All sales must be conducted at Artist’s table. No outside sales are permitted.

ARTIST ALLOWANCES
  • Only products produced by the Artist are allowed in Artists' Alley:

    • Original self-made artwork (fanart or original characters) that have been made into prints (copies), comics, books, bookmarks, calendars, pins, plushies, T-shirts, key-chains, buttons, etc.

    • Commissioned artwork requested by convention attendees

    • Self-made clothing/costumes, hats, gloves, wigs, etc.

    • Self-published CDs, DVDs, and other hardware formats / digital downloads

    • Costume props: after a sale, all props must be taken directly to hotel room, car or be peace-bonded immediately

    • Styling services for wigs must be performed off-site in a hotel room, studio, etc.

    • Tables cannot be moved or block entrances or exits.

    • Overhead displays must demonstrate stability during all hours of the day, regardless of surroundings. Anything deemed as a safety hazard by the Artists' Alley Coordinator must be corrected or taken down immediately.

    • Overhead displays must not extend past the artist’s own table or block another table or walkway.

    • Total clearance must not exceed 6 feet wide by 9 feet tall

    • Displays may NOT block walkways behind tables

    • Products and inventory may be stored under the table, and may NOT block walkways or foot traffic.

    • Artists reserve the right to prohibit photography of their merchandise and assigned table area.


ARTIST CODE OF CONDUCT
  • Any behavior not approved by the AAC will first receive one verbal warning. Further warnings will result in forfeiture of table. This includes harassment of any other artist/staff/attendee, theft of any kind, or unpleasant odors from the artist’s table.

  • Any complaints and/or disputes between Artists (and/or staff) will be investigated by staff in a timely matter.

  • Artist MUST comply with convention policy as well as city and state laws. Any violation of the above may result in expulsion from the convention.

Hentai Con Terms and Conditions for Exhibition Hall


If, in the judgment of Hentai Con, an exhibitor is operating contrary to the policies of the Association or the venue, Hentai Con may cancel the exhibitor’s space, and the exhibitor’s fee will be forfeited. Hentai Con reserves the right to change non rented spaces within the Hentai Con Exhibit Hall without notice to the exhibitors, vendors or artists.

  • Hentai Con will make every attempt to comply with requests for assignment of exhibit locations on a first-come, first-served basis. Location assignments will be made solely at the discretion of the Hentai Con Exhibit Hall manager. The Hentai Con Ex­hibit Hall manager reserves the right to reconfigure the show floor as it deems necessary in the best interest of the show or for logistical and safety reasons. This contract is for the use of the amount of space indicated and not for any specific location on the show floor.

  • There is no smoking allowed in the Hentai Con Exhibit Hall nor near any entrance to the facility, during the event, set-up, or tear-down.

  • Booths must be staffed during all show hours and until the official closing of the Hentai Con Exhibit Hall.

  • This contract provides for the use of exhibit space only. Furnishings (other than these included in the basic package), installation or removal labor, freight, drayage, phone, Internet access, and electric service are not included in these fees.

  • Each exhibitor is solely and fully responsible for its own material and should insure its exhibit against loss or damage from any cause whatsoever.

  • Exhibitors, vendors or artists must furnish Hentai Con with a list of items to be exhibited. Hentai Con reserves the right to accept or reject any exhibit that may detract from the general character of the display. Any food or beverage service from your exhibit booth must be coordinated with Hentai Con prior to the conference.

  • Display boards and other high exhibits must not be placed so as to interfere with other exhibits. Any construction in excess of 4’ in height must be kept within 3’ of the rear of the booth, and no construction can exceed 8’ in height. If your display exceeds these limits, contact Hentai Con, and an attempt will be made to locate your exhibit where it will not interfere with other booths.

  • If the operation of any equipment produces noise or odors annoying or inconvenient to exhibitors, vendors or artists or delegates, it will be necessary to discontinue such an operation. Sound may reach the immediate vicinity of the exhibitor’s area only, and it is urged that displays with sound be equipped with earphones.

  • All demonstrations, interviews, or other activities must be confined to the booth. Aisles must be kept clear, and exhibits must be arranged so that salespersons will be inside the rented space.

  • Exhibitors, vendors or artists may have drawings and award prizes or gifts in their own exhibit booths. There will be no exhibitor drawings or awarding of prizes at any conference function without prior approval from the Hentai Con Exhibit Hall manager.

  • Advertising and sales promotion materials may be distributed from booths only. No ma­terials may be left in public areas for distribution or placed on seats, attached to the walls, ceilings, and so forth of the venue.

  • No exhibitor or sponsor can exhibit or permit to be exhibited in the space allotted or as part of their sponsorship any company, organization, or products other than those specified in the application. Subletting or licensing of space or use of space not explic­itly authorized in writing by the Hentai Con Exhibit Hall manager is prohibited. Sharing of an exhibit by two or more companies is not permitted except as specifically arranged and approved by the Hentai Con Exhibit Hall manager in writing in advance.

  • Exhibitors, vendors or artists are asked to refrain from operating hospitality suites at times that conflict with events that are part of the official conference program. Hospitality functions should not encourage or permit alcohol abuse nor place emphasis on quantity and frequency of use of alcoholic beverages. Alternative beverages should always be avail­able. Hospitality suites must be open to all registered conference guests and Hentai Con staff.

  • Exhibits must comply with all union labor regulations. Rules and regulations for union labor are made by local unions and may be changed at any time.

  • Exhibitors, vendors or artists will be held responsible for any damage done to the venue property by the ex­hibitor or representatives of the exhibitor. No nails, tacks, screws, or other items can be driven into the walls or floor of the building.

  • A security officer will be on duty in the Hentai Con Exhibit Hall area while exhibits are closed. The officer’s presence does not constitute acceptance of any responsibility for se­curity of the exhibitors, vendors or artist’s products. Any items of value should be taken from the hall when booths are unattended. A Hentai Con staff member or volunteer member will be assigned to the entrance during the hours that the exhibit area is open.

  • Any grievances during the conference should be directed first to the Hentai Con Exhibit Hall manager.


Cancellation of Lease

Exhibitors, vendors, or artists will have the right to cancel this agreement at any time by written notice to Hentai Con, however refunds are subject to the following rules. In the event of such cancellation received up to 45 days prior to the Hentai Con Exhibit Hall, Hentai Con will refund the total booth space cost on cancellation notice. No refunds will be made on cancellations received after 09/01/2019.


Rules and Regulations

To ensure efficient and punctual set-up and tear-down, this show will conform to the rules and regulations formulated by the event and the venue. These rules specify exactly how an exhibitor may use the services of a firm other than the official contractor to install and dismantle exhibits in a show. Exhibitors, vendors or artists must notify the show manager at least 30 days in advance of the show that they will be using an outside contractor, supplying the name, address, and supervisor in attendance. Outside contractors must communicate to the show manager at least 30 days in advance of the show what exhibiting companies have requested work and whom the out­side contractor will employ. The contractor must supply appropriate insurance certificates.


Liability

Exhibitor assumes entire responsibility and hereby agrees to protect, indemnify, defend, and save Hentai Con and the venue and its employees and agents harmless against all claims, losses, and damages to persons or property, governmental charges or fines, and at­torney fees arising out of or caused by exhibitor’s installation, removal, maintenance, occu­pancy, or use of the exhibition premises or a part hereof, excluding any such liability caused by the sole negligence of the venue, its employees, and its agents.
