Corey Jones

Corey Jones is a mental health author, activist, artist and certified peer specialist whoJ works at the Decatur Peer Support and Wellness Center - a free nonclinical mental health center in Decatur. She blogs at hopepersists.com and just released her first book, "Hope Is Real: I Have A Purpose." Corey performs with the R2ISE Theater, a performing recovery group, and does mental health presentations for the National Alliance of Mental Illness. Last year, she facilitated a widely attended "LGBT Cultural Competency" workshop for the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network's annual conference. Corey is proud to be an open and authentic pansexual activist for it is only through vulnerability and authenticity that we can combat mental health and LGBTQ stigma. She believes in the power of art to heal and enjoys sharing her message of hope with others. She is also a lifelong feminist and nerd-she founded the feminist social group, Metro Atlanta Feminists, and is dedicated to the philosophy of pragmatic X-Files Agent, Dana Scully.
