Around 1446, the famed Swabian fight-master and mercenary Hans Talhoffer produced a unique manuscript. Known as MS ⅩⅨ.17-3, it was designed to prepare Luithold von Königsegg (whose descendents are now famous for building supercars!) for a judicial duel he had been obliged to fight. Within its pages are found the training that Talhoffer gave him in person ... but it seems that this duel never actually took place and, as such, the book and its contents lay forgotten. This workshop will look at Talhoffer's instruction on the use of the spear, which is distinctly German in nature but notable for some very unusual devices that do not appear in any other fight manuscript found in Europe.
