Join teachers and students from San Jose's largest school districts, San Jose Unified High School District and East Side Union High School District, to discuss the use of mainstream graphic novels in a classroom setting, for grade-level, accelerated, and support purposes. Pioneer High School English teacher Jason Goldman-Hall and Special Education Department Chair Jenny Kim, and Andrew Hill High School English teacher Alexander Diep join a group of students as they share their own motivations and tips for using graphic novels such as Art Spiegelman's "Maus," Brian Wood's "New York Five," Brian K. Vaughan's "Pride of Baghdad," and other comic-related texts in today's Common Core-focused classrooms.
